Here are some interesting facts about the India which most of the Indians or foreigners might don’t know.
  • India is the only largest, oldest and continuous civilization in world— Indus valley civilization. India is origin of various theist faiths like Hinduism (Vaishnavism, Shaivism, Shaktism) and Sikhism; various agnostic faiths like Buddhism and Jainism and various aesthetical faiths like Charvakism.
  • Apart from zero, Infinity, Pi, Exponential, Pythagorean theorem, Trigonometric terms like sin and cos, Decimal number system, Permutation and Combination, Leibniz series etc. are actually invented in India.[1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7](Already wrote several answers and articles on ancient Indian Mathematics, just putting here as fact.)

  • You must wash your hairs with the help of shampoo. But you may not know that Shampoo was actually invented in India.[8] Shampoo word is itself derived from Sanskrit word Champu which means to massage. Greek historian Strabo mentioned the use of shampoo in India in the 4th century B.C.
  • There is water on moon. But it was India who discovered the water on the Moon. In September of 2009, Chandrayaan-1 of the ISRO found the water on the moon (Lunar water) for the very time.[9] Chandrayaan-1 found the evidences of the water on the exosphere of the moon.

  • India is the world's largest producer of milk, contributing about 19% of the world's total milk production with over 150 million tonnes of milk production every year.[10] Cattles are part of Indian family. Now, the argument might be arrived that what about other countries? In other countries milk production is mostly large scale industry whereas in India it is small scale and highly decentralized.

  • Chess (Ashtapada), Snakes and Ladders (Moksha Patam), Ludo (Pachisi), Kabaddi, Cards (Krida Patram) and Carrom are the games which were invented in India.[11] The words in bracket shows the Sanskrit names of game.

  • You might put all of your data in device which is very small stick. Yes, I am talking about the Pendrive—Universal Serial Bus (USB). It was invented by Indian computer Architect Ajay Bhatt[12]
  • Plastic and Cataract Surgery was found in India (6th century BC) and Sushruta was the founder of Plastic and cataract surgery in India. Apart from this, Sushruta mentioned about the 1,120 illnesses, 700 medicinal plants, 64 preparations from mineral sources and 57 preparations based on animal sources.[13]British physicists travelled to India to see rhinoplasties.

  • Probably, Mahatma Gandhi is the only person in world on whom 150 countries launched approximate 250 post tickets.[14] [15] Not only this, more than 70 countries have statues of him in honor of him.[16]
